     RED GIANT
is my attempt at challenging myself, in the Science Fiction Genre. It is a work in progress and needs some work before posting on the site for your consideration. It is worthy of the wait and promises to be filled with excitement and plenty of special effects. It should be ready for posting in July or August, 2008. It is a copyrighted and registered work. To give you some insight, I posted the following taste of its plotline.

INITIAL PLOTLINE:

As a Population 1 star, man has always known that one day the sun, which has been our friend for millions of years, would one day become our worst nightmare. Over millions of years, the hydrogen in the sun has disapated and it has begun its RED GIANT phase. Soon, as it goes through its metamorphisis, it will swell to 250 times its normal size and put it on a direct collision course with the planet earth's orbit. When this happens, the earth and everything on it will simply burn up however, man has no worry of that day, because as the RED GIANT grows in size, man will not survive the sun's heat.

In the year 3082, while mankind has enjoyed peace on earth for nearly 50 years, the sun has begun to  turn to its RED GIANT phase. Man has been forced underground for protection from the intense heat. The sun's radius has increased by nearly one hundred times its normal size. It has increased the earth's temperature
causing the solar caps to melt. Flooding from the melting caps has caused major cities to become under water reefs. Winter temperatures in New York do not drop below 100 degrees and food becomes more and more scarce. It is certain that only a few years remain before earth will no longer sustain human life.
 
Political Leaders and Scientists from around the globe have come together in the new underground version of the United Nations for the World Alliance Summit. Their hope is to come to some resolution to the RED GIANT before man ceases to exist. They know they cannot extinguish the sun because that would quickly return the earth back to the iceage. Only one question remains, can the sun be jetisoned out of the solar system and another planet, much smaller than the sun but having similar properties, be lassoed and ignited like a wick allowing life on earth to continue? 

I guess you'll just have to wait to read the script to find the answer to this dilemma. I'm sure you will enjoy it and it will make you think. It is a story based on fact and fiction that very well may be true in the year 3082.
