Re: Motor Sports Reality TV

Dear Racing & Motor Sports Enthusiast:
I am writing to introduce myself and offer the following concept of Reality Television for your review. I am an avid Motor Sports fan, and more specifically NASCAR Racing. I currently have several projects that I have written for television and film. My most recent project is titled; “Get Born Again” the Layne Staley story, which is scheduled for production in the very near future. I have also written and submitted a court based reality television show, along with other scripts that are being represented by my agent in New York City.
With the popularity of Motor Sports / NASCAR, and reality television, I have created a concept that incorporates both into what I believe will be the next step in merging motor sports with reality television. As you are aware, reality television is becoming increasingly popular with the advent of interactive participation among viewers. I am looking for investors and producers with a vision for the future who are willing to cease the opportunity to take a step ahead of the competition to create something totally unique. This visionary will be able to recognize the potential of this type of program, be directly involved in the programming, and recognize the current and future business potential.
Of special interest to you as owner/operator of a popular driving school, is the fact that this concept involves the racecar driving experience. Average people are given the chance to attend your educational institution, beginning with classroom instruction, on track instruction, and graduating with the experience of driving for the “Checkered Flag” and the coveted championship. As a driving school with a vision for the future, and the potential windfall that this program could generate for your school, I would ask that you consider my proposal for your possible involvement. Your participation, whether in backing support, investment or partnership is at the very least, worthy of consideration as this idea will be pitched to the networks also.
Imagine millions of television viewers each week becoming, personally exposed to your Driving Program. Through sponsor advertising and sponsor support of individual cars, revenue from driver participants and attendee’s, a windfall of profits and notoriety could be, realized.
I would ask that you take a minute to review the following information. If interested, I would be happy to discuss any questions you may have regarding the information submitted. This concept is also available for option at a negotiated price for an agreed period of time. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Terry D. Hilmer

PROGRAM
OUTLINE: (Prior to the show’s taping)
Each week, selected contestants who meet minimum qualification requirements, attend a pre-designated training facility. They participate in a mandatory in class training program, and be required to attend an on track training session (to be determined by the school). At such time as the instructor believes the individual is competent to drive, the contestant will then be qualified to drive a race car subject to initial rules and conditions to familiarize themselves with the cars handling and performance. The instructor will provide each driver with a critique of their driving ability. After a rigorous training program is completed and the instructor(s) have “signed off” on each contestant, the drivers will compete individually for the pole position by making a three lap time trial with placement for the start of the race determined by their effort. The instructor assigned to each contestant will serve in the capacity of that driver’s pit chief, communicating and coaching the driver during the race from a spotter position.
(During the show)
The highlights of the week long training session will be aired at the beginning of the show. This will include the time trial qualifications, class room training, on track training, and brief interviews with the contestants/drivers. The show will build to the grand finale’ in which the competition between the drivers leading to the “MY FANTASY RACER” Checkered Flag and crowing of that week’s winner. During each race, there will be a mandatory pit stop for car inspection and safety inspections. This will be standard format for the entire seasons races which culminate with the final Championship Race between the winners of the 12 weekly races. The Championship Race will require additional training sessions with the final race extended to accommodate the two hour season finale. The Champion will receive the “MY FANTASY RACER” Cup along with other prizes including but not limited to race passes, etc. As a grand prize, the winner could receive a full week vacation in a motor home at the Daytona 500, or race of their choice, and a possible chance to drive the pace car at that race.
