      A MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHOR/CREATOR:

Greeting Friends,

My name is Terry D. Hilmer. I would like to welcome you to this Web Site. You will find that it is, and forever will be, a continuing work in progress. As an author, I initially set out to create this site as a means of show casing my personal writing works. In starting out, it dawned on me that it could become something more. I decided it could also be a learning tool for all wiritng interests. In my experiences, an author, I know just how frustrating it is seeking answers and necessary information pertinent to our craft. Simple things like formatting, finding the writing community is looking for, finding representation or even putting together a Query Letter, just to name a few, came become a lengthy detailed search.

Like our work, all of use are, in one form or another, a continuing work in progress. We advance in our craft through our continued efforts. I am a part of that rule, I am not the exception. My work improves as I develop. It is with this in mind that I created this Web Site. It will, whenever possible, show case my work, but in that process, you can learn enroute to my hopeful happily ever after ending.

I will share with you the process that I discover and the resources I uncover along the way. It is my hope that you can learn something from it. As I  advance as an author, creator and writer, this site shall include my growth. In the end, it will become a story, in and of its self as an evolution of my own writing career.

In order for this site to become everything I envision it to be, I do not want it to only be about me. Frankly, I am not that egotistic. Therefore, I extend this invitation for you to participate in it and all it becomes. If you are an aspiring author, writer or a seasoned professional, you have a story you can contribute about your journey on the road from dream to fruision. It is sometimes easy for us to say; “I had to learn it the hard way and so can they”, but remember the old adage of what goes around, comes around. There are but a few of us who cannot learn something from someone else. The information you provide may help some aspiring writer while someone else's contribution might help you. Remember, like your work, you too are evolving as your own work in progress. This idea kind of puts that "pay it forward" thinking into motion for all to benefit from.

In addition to writer contributions and presentation of featured works, this site is also intended to provide necessary "Resources" applcable to the writing community. Those of us who write know all too well the amount of time we have invested on searching for information. It is my intent to streamline some of that process by encouraging the industry professionals and service providers to list themselves in our "Resources" guide. It is open to all who have an interest in this community. Agents, Management Companies, Law Firms, Literary Critique, Editor's, Proof Readers and anyone else desirous of reaching those who visit this site may submit their information for listing. I will include a writer's employment section if I get requests to do so.

Well, I think that's about enough from me for now. I know you are anxious to discover all you may on this site. There is no charge to you for time spent in this Web community. It is here for us all to learn from. Remember, it is a work in progress and is very much in the infancy stages. Be sure to check back often as it will be updated regularly until fully created and developed. If you "click" on a link today and find it is underconstruction, pardon our dust and try again tomorrow. If you would like to contribute and/or display your work, please use the proper contact form located behind the "Contact” link above. Please sign the guest list and leave us a comment on the Blog.  Happy exploring!

WRITING ASSIGNMENT

WRITER CHALLENGE ASSIGNMENT:

In law school, while taking one of my many required writing courses, the following assignment challenged me to step outside of the box I had been accustomed to, and apply my imagination in a new and unique way. As one who, until this assignment, focused my abilities on writing about things in the real world, my first instinct was to panic. After calming down, I settled in to doing the assignment and discovering I could write from my imagination. As silly as this assignment may seem, it inspired me to become an author. Try it for yourself!

ASSIGNMENT: Create a story of not less than five pages about a fish with five human senses, the sense of taste, the sense of small, the sense of touch, the sense of hearing and the sense of sight. He can live anywhere in the world, in any lake, pond, river, stream or ocean. The rest is up to you. Good Luck! Have fun, and if you learn something from this, or perhaps something about yourself, share it with us on our Blog. Please do not post your story without first requesting to do so. Use the Contact form under the "Contact Us" link above.

DO YOU LOVE REALITY TV?

Terry D. Hilmer has created a new "Concept" and "Outline" for the Reality TV Genre.

“WE THE PEOPLE, In Prime Time” incorporates three popular Reality TV formats into one unique and groundbreaking configuration. It is not a Game Show but yet it is. It is not a Talent Show, but, yet it is. And it’s not a continuing Competition, but (yes you’ve got it) yet again, it is. It has an audience Interactive twist like no other show currently in production and promises to rank among the best. Check it out in the link provided above or visit us at:
